Job Title: Survey Engineer – Marine Survey Company

 

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

 

We are currently seeking a Survey Engineer who will play a crucial role in our marine survey projects.

As a Survey Engineer:

• You will be expected to have Software Competence.

• Involved in Survey Systems Preparation

• Perform Equipment Maintenance and Administration.

• You will comply with the Company’s HSE regulations and policy.

• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the team lead.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure technical software packages. Connect computer networks.

• Install and configure technical software packages. Be proficient in installing computer systems.

• Set up and maintain directory structures. Perform fault finding of computer software.

• Diagnose and rectify faults in computer equipment.

• Perform basic fault finding in the computer software.

• Install and configure survey equipment

• Install, test and commission surface and subsurface survey positioning systems and data acquisition sensors.

• Use test and measurement equipment.

• Prepare equipment for transit, e.g., transit strapping.

• Mobilize on/offline systems (navigational antennas, geophysical positioning).

• Operate online systems.

• Assist in installation, operation and maintenance of survey equipment and systems on rigs, barges, third-party and company vessel (s) to comply with clients and manufacturer’s specifications.

• Practice cost efficient maintenance, ensure that survey equipment inventory is updated on a regular basis and provide pertinent information and feedback to the Party Chief and Project Manager.

• Assist with survey and positioning data transmittal and shipments as necessary.

• Complete fault reports and other company documentation.

• Document and label faulty equipment or components.

• Complete maintenance logs according to procedures.

• Report repairs and faults to line manager or supervisor.

• Liaising with Party Chief/Project Manager, obtaining project details and ensuring that all resources required for each project is mobilized in good time prior to mobilizations.

• Daily operation and maintenance of the gyro compass, GPS, DGPS, RTK, Laser and data acquisition system, including land survey equipment and devices like theodolites, sextants, levels, total stations GPS recording equipment; GPs processing software suites, depth controller, tail buoy positioning, etc.

• Daily operate and maintain the acquisition systems, acquire record and monitor survey, tidal, oceanographic and current data; meeting or exceeding client specifications

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be OSP Certified

• Must have the required health certifications, Bosiet etc.
